For most of us, months of May and June are just some other month in the calendar; however, it is not the same for a majority of under-graduate and graduate students. The admission season gets in full swing, during these months for most colleges. Just go to college during May and June and we will see long queues outside the colleges. These queues are particularly longer for post graduate courses, like MBA colleges.

Most management graduates could not find right directions, once they finish their graduation. Majority of them wanders off nowhere wasting their precious time, as they are not aware about the procedures for admission in MBA. It is essential for you to know that that most MBA colleges, whether affiliated with university or an autonomous institute approved by AICTE, conduct entrance exams for admissions. There are hardly any college that have direct entry into MBA, other than the colleges that offer integrated management course.

As the demand for management professionals by many MNCs and big corporate houses have gone up, the number of students opting for MBA has also shoot up. Thus, ratio between the number of MBA colleges and applicant has increased. According to a survey there are 2, 42,000 applications for 18,000 colleges in India having a ratio of 121:9.


MBA is a specialized post graduation programme, where candidates with right aptitude, attitude and approach can go through this programme. So, majority of MBA colleges conduct entrance test like C.A.T or M.A.T to select candidates with apt skills as well as sort out deserving candidate from huge heap of applications.

The first step for admission in MBA is filling the application form. A large number of candidates do not get this step properly;the candidates sometimes, forgets to fill up some mandatory fields in the application form or make silly mistakeswhilefilling up the form. You should be very calm and alert when you are filling up the application form. A minor error in the application form can ruin your dream of doing MBA, as while scrutinizing incorrect information would give a wrong impression or if any discrepancy in the form is noticed at a later stage can resultin rejection of your application.

These applications are, later, scrutinized by governing body responsible for conducting the test, based on the percentage, cut off percent, educational track. A candidate for MBA college, of course, needs some basic qualification and percentage to appear for entrance test.


Once the applications are scrutinized, eligible candidate receive admit cards to appear for entrance exams to get an admission in MBA colleges. As mentioned earlier, MBA is about right aptitude, thus this test is conducted to get the right candidate as there are limited number of seats as compared to a huge number of aspirants. Entrance test are conducted to seethat everyone gets a fair chance and deserving candidate gets admission in MBA.

Once you appear for the entrance test, you should not start become careless, as the real test begins once you clear the entrance exams. After you clear written entrance exam you get a call letter to appear for personal interview and group discussions. The sole purpose of interview and group discussion is to evaluate your skills as an efficient leader and team member and your approach towards life.The interviewer in the interview digs out your thought process and tries to know about your attitude towards life. He tries to make an outline of your personality and how would you handle real situations. Once you clear this stage, you can fulfil your dream of doing MBA.

The whole procedure seems to be so simple, if you thinking that come out of your dreams, as the reality is that you need hours and days of dedicated hard work and perseverance.
